It’s A…

That’s right, We’re having a baby BOY! As my brother said, Now we’ll have a complete set. šŸ™‚

I really wanted to try out some “fun” way to find out (Though, any way you find out is awesome!) and I totally stole this from my friends J9 and Alicia. šŸ™‚ However, B and I aren’t really cake people so I didn’t want to waste it on just the three of us. And then I realized we were already having the New Hope Worship team over for a BBQ, the same weekend my dear friend Katie was visiting.. and the plan was hatched! It was really fun and exciting finding out with so many friends around! šŸ™‚

18 weeksish

As you can see from the video, “I am “ALWAYS” Right…” (just as an fyi, I meant in reference to my children’s gender, not all things in the world…) I had started to feel pretty sure over the last few weeks that baby #2 was a boy! I think I would’ve passed out if it were a girl.

It was funny, I couldn’t believe how nervous I was while cutting the cake! It reminded me of when we cut the cake at our wedding! This definitely was very exciting. We had our ultrasound on Wednesday and I was a good girl and did not peek to see what we were having. We dropped off the envelope (and kept a spare just in case the bakery messed up).Ā  I was a little concerned because the gal at the bakery seemed a bit confused, but it all turned out. The cake was adorable! (I had said i truly didn’t care what it looked like, lol).

When C woke up from her nap & saw the cake she was VERY excited. She definitely wanted “DUCKY CAKE” asap. But, I forced her to eat dinner first- she finally has started to get the “if you eat dinner, THEN…” and so she ate a good dinner & was rewarded with ducky cake.

Unrelated to the Cake, but C is really good with a "big" cup these days!

(If you re-watch the movie you can hear her chatting about ducky cake).Ā  She ate the piece that we cut. While she was eating it she kept a running commentary about the “blue cake. BLUE cake.” But when we tried to say it was a boy baby in my belly she kept saying “girl? girl?”… so she may be in for a surprise in a few months! LOL .

I love B's face in this one...

Baby boy is already affecting plans around here…for example, I don’t think I’ll paint C’s room pink anymore! šŸ™‚ and now there are names to discuss and keep secret, and nursery furniture and bedding thoughts to consider…

As far as the actual ultrasound goes, little boy wasn’t very cooperative for the actual MEDICAL parts of the u/s (or for pictures for mom!), so we will be headed back on wednesday for another look. I’m excited to see him again! šŸ™‚ So weird/fun to say “HIM!”

Here’s the pictures we DID get. I did see him yawn during the ultrasound which was really cute šŸ™‚

His Face

a foot...or a dragonfly?

{23 months}

I can’t believe in less than a month my baby will be TWO!! (and that in 5 months there will BE two…)

She’s earned the nickname “chatty c” on our beach trip. She is talking more and more and more. Including telling me that she wants a diaper change. I’m hoping potty training is in the VERY near future!!

She has a steel trap memory… She really remembers so many random things… Like the location of “tunnels” (Aka overpasses). Tunnels and bridges are her current obsession. It’s cute, except when there hasn’t been one while in awhile…I’m not able to produce them from thin air which she finds very disappointing!

I’m sure there are many many more adorable things she is doing that im not able to conjure up right now!

I’ll add captions to these pictures later- I’m posting from my phone at the moment!

{17 Weeks…}

and finally feeling a bit pregnant.

For the most part I’ve been telling everyone how different this pregnancy is. I barely know I’m pregnant. I’m trying to take good care of myself (at my 12 week appointment I hadn’t yet gained weight- yay!)…other than that, I forget that I’m pregnant all the time! I can still fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans (but when maternity pants are an option, who wants to button anything?? Plus, it’s easier to go to the bathroom eleventy million times per day if you have elastic pants).

This time around, I have a much more vocal child than the one in utero! C fussed through my entire 12 week ultrasound (i think because she was freaked out…”what are you doing to my mommy??”), so i barely got to watch.

belly bump is pretty much still just my winter blubber, but I’ll humor you all. here’s a picture of me from Shani’s wedding and one from today…

I have my “big” ultrasound (anatomy scan) next week… any guesses on what Baby S #2 will be? We decided to find out again. I was REALLY sure C was a girl… this time around I really have no clue. I think it could be a boy, but I think I only think that because I want C to have a sister šŸ™‚Ā  I love my brother, but I always wanted a sister šŸ™‚ My pregnancy overall is very similar to when I was pregnant with C. (other than the fact that I’m not paying attention to it šŸ™‚ I had no real morning sickness, I still hate chicken, a lot of similar “cravings”. I’m not feeling movements as early as i did with C, but at my 12 week appointment they told me my placenta is anterior which can lead to feeling movement later. That said, today I definitely have felt more flutters- yay šŸ™‚ So, What’s your guess?

decompressing…

Oh my goodness! I feel like this has all been such a whirlwind– my best friend is MARRIED!! It’s SO crazy AWESOME!

Leading up to the wedding was such a blur for me because it’s just been a crazy few months with my husband traveling–which is finally over, YAY!!! (Of course, we traveled quite a bit too).Ā  It’s been hard to keep up with all of the goings on!

We spent a week in the OBX (outer banks, NC) prior to the wedding. My super awesome husband was basically on kid duty the entire time. All along in the process of Shani’s engagement I was really feeling badly that I wasn’t able to be there for her the way she was for me. (Partly because our geography is different and partly because I have a two year old!) Well at least in the week before, I felt like I really was able to. Thank you, Hubby!! šŸ™‚

I want to post pictures and tell C stories but I think I’m just so off right now. It was a crazy awesome week but also really really busy and tiring. I am so happy that I was able to help Shani handle things, but really, she had done such a great job & everything was so well planned that everything went so smoothly! Someone did say I was really good with the details {on the actual wedding day} and I just had to laugh, because I am SOOOO not a detail person. I joked, “Well, that’s only because I was playing the role of Shani today.” šŸ™‚

I had so much fun with her family and Scott’s family and their friends… I’m really looking forward to a reunion trip šŸ™‚ I hope we can plan one!

Anywhoo, I will definitely try to post more about the trip and organize my thoughts a bit better. šŸ™‚
